Southend-on-Sea Borough Council are looking to recruit a full time Enforcement Officer in its Regulatory Services Group and whilst this is a generic role supporting all aspects of Regulatory Services Enforcement we are looking to recruit an Officer to assist with inspecting food premises, sampling, infectious disease and assisting with service requests across the. Whole service area including licensing, gambling, trading standards, taxi licensing, statutory nuisance and health and safety as appropriate.

You will have experience of the gathering and safe keeping of evidence, preparation of reports to support appropriate action against breaches of the law, plan and carry out enforcement/compliance action and be required to support Regulatory Services Officers from time to time. There may also be a necessity to appear as a witness in court and at tribunals on behalf of the council.

Predominantly the work is during weekday office hours but there will be a necessity to work across the service and outside the office beyond those hours, including nights and at weekends and as part of a Regulatory Services out of hours rota. Access to a car is preferable to facilitate completing necessary enquiries. You are required to have qualifications relevant to enforcement within a Local Authority or other statutory body or have equivalent experience. Your application will be supported if you have a basic knowledge of regulatory services and enforcement procedures.
