PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Competitive salary package + bonus, company car & benefits
Based: Gloucestershire/South West or Northamptonshire

The company

Our client is a well-known, privately owned, major FMCG business with a diverse product range across food and drink categories, and one of the UK’s leading businesses in its sector.

Operating via a close network of European manufacturing partners, the company’s private label division supplies a growing portfolio of own label products across all UK trade channels.

The business is currently embarking on an exciting new business strategy with new product development and innovation at the centre of a clear vision for growth and future success.

A pipeline of new product innovation has already been identified and is at various stages of development for launch into the UK market.

The role

To support these ambitious future growth plans the company is seeking a Product Development Manager to generate and drive an ongoing programme of NPD and innovation across a diverse range of food categories.

Reporting to the Commercial Controller, the role is high profile and will have full responsibility for managing the new product development and innovation agenda within the business. This will involve creating a stream of profitable innovation using consumer insights and latest trend information to drive business decisions. Your remit will require you to introduce and implement best in class NPD processes and procedures. In addition, you will provide the key link between the manufacturing partners, the customer and the national accounts team, working proactively across all stakeholders to ensure achievement of joint sales and profit objectives. The role will also have the responsibility for one direct report.

The role can be based at the company’s offices in Gloucestershire or Northamptonshire, with regular trade/customer visits and some occasional European travel required.

About you

For this position we are looking for someone with an NPD or product development background in food or drink (ideally in own-label) and with a demonstrable and successful track record of having managed key NPD projects and having brought products to market in a structured manner. You will also need to be commercially sound and be able to bring all your influencing and persuasion skills to building strong relationships both internally and externally. A genuine and real passion for food would be a distinct advantage.

If you think you’ve got what it takes and are ultimately keen to develop a career with a leading, growing FMCG company, then please apply below giving details of your current salary package in a covering note. Alternatively, please email your CV to Maria Murphy at mariam@smithcarey.co.uk, quoting reference number MM/2004.

Closing date for applications: 13th September 2018
