This business is a major player within the FMCG market, and are looking to appoint a new Distribution Manager to be part of a Central European Team. The role will require you to continoulsly develop and review transport strategies inline with the business requirements and deliver cost efficiency by developing and implementing the strategy for Transport within defined markets.
 
The Distribution Manager will take ultimate responsibility for the UK and Ireland business.  It is vital that this role works collaboratively with senior Commercial and Operational internal stakeholders and will be responsible for:

• Develop and define the appropriate local logistics sourcing strategies with relevant stakeholders and agree deliverables in Service Level Agreements
• Drive implementation of the strategies via follow-up processes including execution of specific sub-strategies like tenders, frame-contracts, RfQs, etc. securing that country and business specifics are considered and deliverables are in line with business plans
• Continuously monitor and optimize the carrier performance against agreed targets utilizing scorecards and regular follow-up meetings, involving relevant stakeholders on an appropriate level
• Support the different stakeholders’ distribution strategies in defining, adjusting and evaluating their carrier base and support the start-up in new business
• Drive process- and system-implementation, like harmonizing processes and contracts in transport-procurement, support proper execution (g. freight-cost adherence, saving-reporting and follow-up) and contribute to the development of our global distribution sourcing processes, systems and related activities
• Continuously monitor and review the transport-market and perform internal and external benchmarks to further improve transport performance and establish best practices, based on expert view on business demands and supplier market
• Build and develop the business within 3 specific areas.

The Candidate:  Successful candidates will have significant distribution/transport knowledge within FMCG, food or consumer products. You will also hold:

• Good understanding of UK Transport Market
• Over 5 years experience in Distribution/Transport
• Broad business / industry experience in logistics and supply chain management
• Extensive understanding in sourcing strategies as well as in-depth practical experiences in transport procurement
• Profound experience in project-management and good commercial understanding
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Experience in managing customer partnership, supplier management and analysis, TCO and contract management
• Able to influence at all levels
• Change management experience
• There will be regular UK travel with this role (25%)
• Experience of SAP
