The company

We are seeking a talented individual to work for a leading independent manufacturer of specialist products. The company can offer bespoke chilled or frozen products which are supplied into the manufacturing, service and retail sectors.

The job

The Meat Buying Manager will source, negotiate, agree and manage contracts with suppliers for the site raw materials and services in order to deliver the most competitive overall cost of supply, along with the day to day management of these suppliers. You will ensure all quality, food standards are met and raw materials are sourced from technically approved suppliers.

The role has responsibility for a budget of around £20m, buying fresh and frozen meat raw materials across two manufacturing sites.

Your experience

You will possess a strong buying / purchasing track record with good knowledge and experience of meat markets in UK and Europe. A professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent is highly desirable. You will have a proven record of successful negotiations, a high level of IT proficiency, be able to influence and guide opinions and behaviour through relevant communication methods and develop and maintain relationships with all suppliers.
