Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that the right products are delivered to the right locations (client and site alike) on time, to the quality required, in the most efficient way by overseeing the dispatch, distribution and transportation of goods from site to client or associated DC.

Main responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers
  • Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the business to improve operational and financial performance
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers
  • Recommend optimal transport modes, routes or frequencies
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, or customer issues in liaison with the other operational department leads
  • Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, product volumes, and report results to the operational leads
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities
  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements through the direct reports
  • Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system  records are in agreement
  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for site Security operations, including CCTV and manned guarding – Registered with the Information Commissioner

What do we need from you:

  • Forward thinking and strategically minded individual, proactively keeping up to date with logistical trends and has previous experience in a large scale logistics role
  • Fully acquainted in relevant EU legislation with regards to driver’s hour’s law, vehicle maintenance under Operators Licence and legal commitments / working time directive
  • Previous warehouse management experience, including WMS and stock control systems
  • Ability to negotiate operational requirements and contract terms with third party suppliers
  • Team management, the ability to manage through people, and communicate at all levels; including people performance and development frameworks / succession planning
  • Member of a professional organisation would be beneficial (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport / Fleet Transport Association / Road Haulage Association)

Qualifications – Essential

  • SIA Non-Frontline licence to manage Security Officers
  • CPC National
  • DBS Clearance (Information Commissioner approval and registration required)

You will be required to travel to various sites and may be required on occasion to work weekend and/or unsociable shifts to oversee all staff.
