Technical Account Specialist (UK)

Location: Newport, Wales.

IdentiGEN are recruiting for a Technical Account Specialist (UK) to join a young professional team in an expanding scientific business with international operations, servicing the UK meat processing and grocery sector.

The successful candidate is expected to have a natural ability to problem-solve and a strong background in food production and associated information systems.

A proactive approach to overcoming challenges and championing solutions will ensure career progression.

Reporting to the Technical Account Manager (UK) this role will provide support to both the lab management and accounts management team, in the establishment and delivery of client services, with the opportunity to develop towards an accounts management role.

Job Duties:

  • Build good relationships internally (across sites, across functions) and externally (customers third parties).
  • Implement technical solutions within client supply chains.
  • Support the operational team in the delivery of client services, providing an effective interface between the lab team and the client, to deliver on agreed sampling plans, schedules and logistics.
  • Provide an effective interface between the accounts team and the client.
  • Field support to third party meat production and distribution premises- facilitate and troubleshoot sampling and data exchange processes.
  • Completes planned projects; communicates progress.
  • Facilitate and troubleshoot sampling and data exchange processes.
  • Have a clear understanding of meat terminology and communicate clearly with third parties / customers.
  • Understand and reciprocate terminology surrounding genetics / biology and hold a degree of scientific knowledge.
  • Undergo an element of travelling to customer sites / third parties who are based throughout the UK and possibly Europe.
  • Evaluate supply chain structures as they relate to product specifications to ensure timely and effective system implementation.
  • Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps.
  • Provide actionable information for clients to improve their supply chain performance.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to the role.

Skills, knowledge and experience

Creative problem solver; confident and articulate communicator; strong analytical and well above average computing skills; detail oriented; works well under pressure and to tight deadlines; time management; project management; enjoys being part of a dynamic multi-cultural team; takes personal ownership and responsibility; Quality Assurance Systems; fluent English.

A minimum of 3 years relevant experience will be highly advantageous.

A knowledge of food production, the food or meat processing sector is essential.

A background in a food technology or biological science with experience/understanding of PCR and DNA based methods is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Food, Agriculture, Biological Science or equivalent (2.1 or higher)
  • Driving License (and own vehicle)
