The company

This is a challenging and rewarding role working for family-owned business which has been established for over 60 years. The business specialises in growing, packing and distributing a variety of products for major supermarkets as well as independent retailers, wholesalers and foodservice.

The job

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading transport commercial decisions. This is a very fast moving, hands-on role, as second nature, you need to maintain high standards and have a real focus on commercial performance, targets and SLA’s.

You will be responsible for the P&L of the transport operation, ensure the transport operation complies with all legal standards, ensure compliance with vehicle and tacograph legislation, manage existing customers and gain new business, ensure work is invoiced, deal with customer complaints and queries, keep customers updated on progress,, check daily plan to make sure that all routes are covered and look for any empty running routes that can be filled plus negotiate new contracts with wagon, trailer, tracking and telephone suppliers.

Your experience

You will be a positive and forward-thinking individual with a good track record within a ‘back load’ haulage, transport, distribution, logistics or similar role with a commercial/sales aspect. You will possess working knowledge of EU Driver Regulations and WTD plus be a CPC / O licence holder. You will also have excellent relationship building skills, be highly numerical and possess excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

The Commercial Transport Manager job is based in the North West region and is paying a competitive salary according to individual skills and previous experience. The working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
