This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven Mechanical Engineer with a positive "can do" attitude to join a leading name in the food and beverage manufacturing sector.
This is a shift cover position for an engineer looking to work just 2 shifts as weekend cover on a Saturday and Sunday.
As Mechanical Engineer you will work alongside the engineering and management teams providing knowledge and experience in mechanical disciplines and provide a cost effective and proactive maintenance and engineering service to the processing and productions departments.

Responsibilities of the role include:
*Responsible for trouble shooting and problem solving to enhance automated processed and packaging machinery. Specifically to identify more cost effective methods and seek to find long term solutions to prevent problems occurring.
*Build an effective working relationship with the Engineer and Management Teams by providing technical advice, breakdown support and making improvements to current work practices.
*Develop preventative maintenance plans for equipment. Minimising breakdowns and maximising efficiency.
*Responsible for supervising the night shift
*Contribute to the installing and commissioning of new machinery.
*Assist the team leaders in the assessment of individual and departmental technical skills, identifying training needs.
*Ensure that current Health & Safety requirements are adhered to at all times.
*Assist the Engineering Manager/Team Leader with project work and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that projects are delivered to specification, within budget and on time.
*Responsibility for maintenance of the Safe Working Procedures 9SWP's) for the Engineering department.
*Contribute to training and ongoing development of apprentices.

This role will be right for you if you have a proactive, can-do attitude. You will need a recognised Engineering qualification (ONC Minimum) and/or an apprenticeship and will need to have worked within a high-speed manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will also have a good working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience of turning, milling, grinding and welding is also desirable.
