The main responsibility of the Maintenance Planner is to maximise work effectiveness and efficiency by the provision of appropriate information for work scheduling and execution. This will be achieved through developing and deploying job plans with sufficient and detailed information to maintain healthy plant assets and equipment at an optimum cost. In addition it is expected the person will identify opportunities to improve processes whilst complying with EHS requirements.

Michael Page are working with a global manufacturing and production business based in Manchester. This particular production facility is at the hub of the UK Food and Beverage Industry. The business is a well established, global business that provides multiple products for the food/drink industry.

Description

Maintenance Planner Key Responsibilities:


  • Develops maintenance job plans for work scheduling and execution by providing appropriate information, details include but are not limited to; skills required, number of technicians, estimated job duration, materials or parts requirements, special tools/ equipment, work instructions and essential safety steps


  • Using established guidelines to plan and assist on preventative maintenance and reliability strategies


  • Review all new work requires for planning to ensure appropriate priority for proactive work


  • Ensures work requests enable job plan definition and to develop more detailed plans for complex work


  • Ensure safety is at the forefront of planning activity and hazards are identified and precautions put into place to mitigate risks


  • Ensure alignment of CMMS records to PM and PdM routes


  • Ensure correct materials are available for work planning with stores


  • Participates in equipment reliability strategy processes to identify the most common failure modes and utilise Root Cause Analysis, Reliability Centred Maintenance, 5Why and Management of Change processes to mitigate the causes of equipment failure


  • Proactively plans and schedules downtime to have minimal disruption to plant production processes


  • To maintain and update the library of job plans


  • Participate in specific capital projects
  • To be actively involve with the plant EHS and food safety processes


Profile

The Successful Maintenance Planner:
  • A level/ NVQ/ BTEC college technical qualification (preferably mechanical engineering) or equivalent knowledge/ qualification
  • Degree qualification in Engineering would be advantageous but not essential
  • Previous proven hands on maintenance execution experience within Mechanical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of maintenance processes and activities
  • Knowledge of a Computerised Maintenance Management System, MAXIMO preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, SAP and other tools needed for field of activities
  • Working knowledge of condition based monitoring techniques including but not limited to; vibration analysis, oil analysis, Infra-red, ultrasound and motor circuit evaluation
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and failure analysis RCFA / RCM / FMEA
  • Certification in condition based monitoring techniques would be advantageous
  • Able to work as part of a team across different stakeholders and on own initiative
  • Excellent time management is essential in this position
  • Fluent English (both verbal and written)
