Job Details

A large,successful national organisation are now looking for a Materials Scheduler who will be part of a larger Supply Chain Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to further their career within the supply chain sector.

Context:

The role reports into the Scheduling Team Leader is responsible for material provisions, storage and management which enables the production facility.

The role interacts with numerous parties to ensure that the production activities are achieved.

Internal: production teams, central planning teams, procurement, quality / technical, warehouse & finance.

Purpose of the role:

  • To assist in the smooth running of the factory by ensuring that materials are available to enable manufacturing schedule completion.
  • To execute Materials Requirements Planning across entire horizon of the Manufacturing Resource Plan
  • To run the Performance Management process for incoming materials deliveries
  • To monitor, maintain and ensure complete accuracy of all critical data fields related to incoming materials

Activities: Participates in site safety programmes and actively drives awareness to hazards and the need for making improvements.

Activities:

Consideration of forward material requirements planning and phasing recommendations into components supply plans.

Management of inbound schedules resolving exceptions, providing prioritisation and ensuring availability of materials to support the execution of the production schedule.

In conjunction with the Warehouse team, manage the warehouse capacity for incoming goods

Adherence to agreed inventory policy and recommendation / management of parameters to optimise inventory and eliminate risk to supply. 

Identification and mitigation of stock at risk and working with stakeholders in processing any inventory write off requests.

Measurement and management of supplier performance and reporting of relevant KPIs and escalations, as necessary, to production scheduling, procurement and central planning.

Communicate to stakeholders the daily performance in relation to material availability, highlighting exceptions.

Maintenance of accurate incoming delivery data and Material Master Data parameters in ERP and other planning systems.

Maintain a view of contract usage supporting procurement in contract management.

Support requirements (assessments, quotation, execution when agreed) for specific processes such as tender, free samples, trials, artwork/pack change and product launch plans.

Results: Production Plans / schedules & dispatch achieved. Customer service KPI’s improve.

Results: Necessary departments aware of materials schedule and status. External delivery coordinated

Knowledge and Experience:

Qualifications: A Level (or equivalent) Maths & English

Experience in a materials or supply chain planning role within a manufacturing environment using ERP and MRP systems. A good knowledge of planning and scheduling methodology and experience in managing external relationships with suppliers.  

  • Advanced level Excel skills required
  • Highly numerate with knowledge of planning/scheduling systems
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to assimilate information from different sources to generate achievable plans
  • Good Communicator
  • Attention to detail with ability to work under pressure
  • Good organizational skills
