General Duties

The Technical Assistant   is responsible for supporting the Technical Manager in all aspects relating to the quality assurance and food safety management systems of the company and its’ suppliers.

Responsible To

The Technical Assistant reports directly to the Technical Manager

Key Area of Responsibility

The successful candidate is to provide support to the Technical Manager in developing and implement procedures based on BRC for Agents and Brokers. This to include overall responsibility to provide support around the following 5 key requirements:

  • Senior Management Commitment
  • Hazard & Risk assessment.
  • Product Safety and Management Systems
  • Supplier/Subcontractor Service Management
  • Training and Core Competencies

Other Responsibilities

Supporting the Technical Manager, as Technical Assistant you will assist with

  • Management and maintenance of the food safety and quality management systems, in accordance with BRC standards
  • BRC related documentation including managing and updating quality systems, traceability etc., supplier assurance and management,  complaint and non-conformance management and investigation
  • HACCP and Internal Auditing.
  • Customer and supplier complaints monitoring and documentation
  • Product specification development and maintenance.
  • Dealing with suppliers and logistics on a day-to-day basis.
  • Complete customer specifications and supplier assessment questionnaires
  • Communicate with suppliers to complete customer questionnaires and respond to customer queries
  • Managing customer complaints, communicating with suppliers, reviewing responses for suitability and responding appropriately to customers.
  • Review and maintain Staple Food’s format specs and customer format specifications when required
  • New product development projects, including all paperwork associated with new products to include HACCP, final product specifications, and label/artwork compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with both BRC and Major Retailer & Food Service manufacturing standards.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager

 

 

Core Competencies

  • Computer literate and competent with company based computer systems and requirements.
  • Qualified to Level 3 HACCP and/or minimum Level 2 Food Safety in Manufacturing
  • Experience of working with retailer and food service groups’ specifications systems
  • Experience of Internal Auditing.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload

Terms

  • Permanent office based position (subject to initial 6 months’ probation period)
  • 37.5hrs per week ( 9am - 5pm Mon-Fri)
