Our client works to deliver globally and locally sourced fruit, veg to the food service sector. They work with the best farmers to source the best quality fruit and veg at the right time and at the right price.

You will work in a collaborative manner with our suppliers and customers to drive a mutually agreed technical strategy, pro-actively supporting and driving quality improvement projects/plans.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understand and help shape our suppliers and customers’ technical/quality strategies
  • Investigate and follow up key customer complaints and resolve internally/externally as required
  • Ensure the implementation of any corrective action is sustainable, practical and effective, working with our suppliers to drive continuous improvement
  • Review delivered quality to depots and restaurants, seeking and delivering corrective action where necessary and supporting identified growth opportunities
  • Work closely with suppliers to build strategic quality reviews locking in our customers’ requirements so they become pivotal to our Technical strategy
  • As the customer’s produce specialist you will be able to articulate agronomic and scientific reasons behind any Technical and Quality related challenges.

Person Profile

  • Food related degree or equivalent
  • Experience gained within the Produce industry at Technical Manager level
  • Experience of managing food safety, quality, legality and integrity
  • Able to demonstrate successful customer management at a senior level, including demonstrable understanding and implementation of customer technical policies and code of practice
  • Knowledge of relevant food safety legislation and implementation of BRC accreditation standards
  • Experienced in managing and maintaining Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of ethical and sociably responsible trading standards
  • Confident in use of HACCP principles preferably formally trained in HACCP, TACCP & VACCP
  • Flexibility to travel across the UK
