THE ROLE

We currently have an opportunity for a Field Based Technical Representative within the “In Home” business unit to cover the South of England area. We are looking for a highly skilled baker with a broad experience in all types of environments. As a business we deal with many different types of customers where bakery products are made -  Craft Bakeries, Industrial Food Manufacturers, In-store Bakeries, Hotels, Education Sector, Pubs, Restaurant Chains etc and we need someone with flair, imagination and skills to bring new ideas to life in a way which will excite customers and colleagues. The role is not just about traditional bakery but about an understanding of food in general – you should be a genuine “Foodie” who can see where our great products could fit into different markets. Our product portfolio is very wide and the person that we seek should understand this and be able to adapt their style to different environments.

Ideally located in the South of England area (M4 Corridor would be ideal) the successful candidate will be required to provide full product application support to all types of customers in the South focusing on the introduction of new products, demonstrating new application ideas, solving technical problems and working with the appropriate Business Development Managers to generate new business.  The role will also require the candidate to work with the Business Development Manager to develop and grow their designated Core and Invest customers through Technical assistance delivered on-site wherever possible.

Key tasks will include preparing a range of products to meet the customers’ needs at the request of the relevant Commercial colleague, or at the request of a customer, ensuring that products featured demonstrate the benefits of our products to the full.  Other tasks include reporting fully each day on all activities, reporting competitors’ activities, reporting back customer activity and dealing with technical issues that may arise with customers.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will be capable of working on their own initiative and to a very high standard in order to project a positive image of Macphie in all business situations. They should be fully conversant with all aspects of Bakery and Food Production, eager to learn and experiment and above all be flexible in their approach to work so that the needs of the customer are at the forefront of any decisions. Bakery qualifications would be a distinct advantage along with evidence of craft skills.

Full training will be given to the candidate and the on-going support of a close knit and highly professional team of Bakers and Chefs will be a key part of their development as their career progresses.

A clean driving licence is essential along with the ability to work unsociable hours if required.
