Hygiene Manager

Full time, permanent

Based in Moreton

ROLE PURPOSE

Managing a team of hygiene operators you will report directly to the Site Technical Manager.

You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of high standards of hygiene across the site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure all aspects of the hygiene service are carried out and maintained to the required standard
  • To manage the hygiene budget and ensure all expenditure is authorised and recorded 
  • To manage the ordering and stock control of hygiene consumables and chemicals
  • To develop and maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for every hygiene activity that meet the requirements of the BRC food safety standard
  • Working closely with the production and engineering teams ensure the dismantling machinery and equipment for thorough using both wet and dry, cleaning methods and a variety of cleaning chemicals
  • Ensure all scheduled cleans are completed.
  • Develop appropriate KPI's to target and assess against
  • Management of the pest control contract and overseeing the completion of all pest prevention actions to the required standards
  • To conduct compliance audits / inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation
  • To manage the provision of hygiene chemicals and dosing equipment on site - to include regular reviews with chemical supplier, periodic chemical dosing checks, maintenance of equipment and to oversee the safe storage, decant, transport and use of chemicals on site.
  • To work with suppliers to obtain the most suitable and cost effective equipment and consumables and to effectively manage supplier non-conformance in a timely manner
  • To support the Technical & QA team in participating in microbiological investigations or projects to drive improvements in the site hygiene standards
  • To provide training and awareness for all operations and hygiene staff in all hygiene procedures relevant to their role
  • Providing direction motivation and support through management, leadership and coaching of direct reports to meet departmental targets.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the department and site
  •  Promoting a safety culture within the department / factory ensuring all H&S requirements are met.
  • Improving hygiene performance through measurement and projects.
  • Managing facilities / amenities to appropriate standards to ensure effective operations.
  • Carrying out ad-hoc projects (including capital projects) as and when required. 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Strong leadership / People Management skills with proven experience of hygiene management within food manufacturing.
  • Strong influencing skills; ability to challenge behaviours to ensure consistency with service to customers
  • IOSH trained
  • Food Hygiene 3-4 years’ experience
  • Experience of managing to BRC standards.
  • Understanding of Hygiene cleaning methods in food manufacturing environments and ability to look for ways to improve working practices and procedures. 
  • A logical and clear thinking approach particularly when under pressure.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential along with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written. 
  • Intermediate Computer skills in Excel, Word and Power Point.
