ROLE

Purpose

To lead the Technical Team  at Site level, developing and delivering against set processes and practices, and helping to ensure that products are manufactured to meet the food safety and quality standards required both by law and by customers through verification of standards. Reporting to the Site Director, the role takes responsibility for effective management of the Technical function to ensure that the highest standards of food safety and processes are maintained and improved. The job-holder will work closely on a daily basis with the Operational  teams, and with all other disciplines in the business as required. Nurturing positive relationships with both customers and external agencies and seeking at all times to identify opportunities and deliver solutions for continuous business improvement.

Main responsibilities

Relationship Development: Act as the conscience of the site, working with the Site Director to help ensure everything produced is within the specifications as agreed with the customer.

Team Management and Development: Coordinate and supervise the activities of Quality Assurance, Quality Systems and Specifications teams through active task management and regular progress updates.

Budgets & Financial Performance: Role success is measured by achievement of the Technical strategy within agreed budgets and timescales, demonstrating clear Technical improvements and reduced customer quality issues.

Continual Improvement: Support and develop the team (and colleagues) in the implementation of new initiatives, driving a best practice approach at all times, working to SMART objectives. 

Quality & Operational Excellence: Ensure that the Company has the appropriate monitoring and auditing systems in place to demonstrate due diligence, best practice, and full compliance with legal, Company and Customer’s protocols and specifications.

Strategy: Develop the Company Central Technical Strategy within the site, empowering people to deliver the strategy, ensuring that technical policies and procedures comply with and focus on food safety, legality, quality and hygiene.

Good Citizenship and Responsible Care: To ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care. 

CANDIDATE

You will be a Strong leader with excellent communication skills. You will have a proven track record at the Management level in Technical/Quality within Food Manufacturing. You will have solid experience of Technical systems preferably with a HACCP qualification and you will be well accustomed to working to BRC standards. Major Retailer experience would be advantageous.
