A Shift Engineering Manager (Double Day Shift) is required at an international FMCG Manufacturer based near Preston. In this role you would be responsible for ensuring the manufacturing facility is kept running at its optimal level by carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance with a team of multi skilled engineers. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager you would run the engineering function efficiently against measurable KPI's on the double day shift.

Description

Shift Engineering Manager (Double Day Shift) Key Responsibilities:
  • Attends the monthly H+S forum with actions and reports complete.
  • Carry out contractor inductions and issue PTW and ensure contractor safety is adhered to on site.
  • Ensure all employees follow PPE and food safety standards at all times. Lead by example.
  • Ensure staffing levels are reviewed and managed on a daily basis, and escalated to the Senior Engineering Manager with appropriate recommendations in place if required. This will include holidays, absence and training cover .
  • Implement engineering best practice and support site strategy, whilst ensuring KPIs are achieved through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor asset performance to ensure all priorities are met, and any engineering related downtime is minimised
  • Analyse and understand root cause of all engineering related downtime and implement robust engineering solutions to minimise.
  • Lead, motivate and support the Engineering team, carry out regular reviews/appraisals and develop individual development plans to ensure skills sets meet ongoing business requirements.
  • To circulate management information through briefings with the team. To progress matters of concern with the Senior Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure the correct critical spares are available for the designated lines. Manage and source parts through OEM and non OEM suppliers to ensure plant performance.
  • Manage all absenteeism and performance related matters in line with company procedures and practices. Ensure all relevant documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all new starters are effectively inducted into their engineering team, including distribution of work wear, PPE, PC Inductions, tool allocation, and implementation of a designated area training plan.
  • Conducts guidance and counselling meetings with individual employees as required, ensuring accurate records are kept and communicated to HR.
  • Ensure consistency with all employees in line with company policies and procedures. To Include H&S, Hygiene, Food Safety and all other standard policies.
  • To plan PM and corrective work


Profile

The Successful Shift Engineering Manager (Double Day Shift):

Previous Experience Working in a Food Manufacturing or FMCG Manufacturing Environment
Qualified to Degree level within a related Engineering discipline or a Time Served Engineer
Preferable Multi Skilled with good electrical and mechanical knowledge
Experience of managing and developing teams of Engineers
Proven in creating and implementing PPM systems
Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations - IOSH certification desirable
Lean Six Sigma/5s experience, continuous improvement knowledge
