Production Section Manager

Production Section Manager - £30k plus benefits - Oldham Based

We are a c£160million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers, there are two sites both based in the North West at Oldham and Bolton.

Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts, we mostly supply Marks & Spencer's although we also supply major retailers including Sainsbury's, Tesco's Co-op and Aldi and Morrisons.

We currently have a vacancy for a Section Manager, this position has a number of Operatives and Charge hands reporting to it and reports direct to a Bkaery Manager. The role has a wide ranging remit with responsibilities which include:

• Manage the financial KPI's of the production area e.g. variances, stocks, bills of materials to an agreed standard.
• Provide leadership and support to the Charge Hands, and manage and facilitate staff performance and development, ensuring the departmental structure and skills are developed to meet changing job requirements.
• Promote 'Best in Class' standards for Health & Safety, ensuring the company's Health & Safety systems and policies are strictly adhered too.
• Effectively communicate at all levels on matters regarding quality, service, and people issues.
• Ensure that customers (internal and external) receive a high standard of service and the area is presented at all times at peak standard with auditors and customers.
• Develop staff training and liaise with the Bakery Manager.
• Drive improvements in GMP/Hygiene
• Participate in cross-functional team working
• Support the Bakery Manager and Business Unit Manager as required
• Ensure that production targets are met within agreed deadlines, making best use of resources and materials.

The job holder must be able to demonstrate:

• Previous and proven experience of managing a team of operatives in a labour intensive production environment
• An understanding and ability to drive production KPI's
• Excellent communication and listening skills and computer literacy
• The ability to drive targets and motivate staff
• Good organisational & time management skills and delivery of cost and performance targets
• Ideally a knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, CI, and an understanding of OEE , downtime variances, and other KPI's

Package :

• Salary is £30k
• 25 days holiday a year and 8 statutory holidays
