The Company

Do you have a natural talent for developing relationships and maximising business opportunities? This is a great chance for a Technical Sales Manager to join a specialist global ingredients company and help them grow their European business.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you’ll be responsible for the European growth of a specialised category working directly with customers and distributors. As well as developing new business you will manage existing customer accounts, providing exceptional customer service. This will include ensuring that they understand the company’s products by providing training and support.

You’ll take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and work with the Commercial Director to develop the commercial strategy for your category as well as prepare sales plans and budgets for the European market. 

You will also attend tradeshows, technical sales meetings and innovation summits to present the current category business situations whilst keeping abreast of changes within the market.

The Person

We are looking for a self-motivated, determined and commercially astute Technical Manager who ideally has previous experience in a similar Technical Sales role within the food ingredients industry (such as functional ingredients, colours, flavours, nutraceuticals, yeasts). Alternatively a Technical Account Manager who is now looking to develop their commercial career in a more senior and varied role. 

You’ll have the ability to drive your own category but also work with change internally and externally as the market shifts. Alongside outstanding communication skills you must also have excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities with a flair for influencing key decision makers.

You must be educated to Degree or Masters level in a science related subject. Experience of successfully managing key accounts, developing new business and providing Technical and Commercial solutions is required but the business will provide training and development in the role. There will be regular planned travel to Europe and occasionally to the USA.
