The role 

This is a night shift role in one of the UKs largest food manufacturers. They make a considerable contribution to  the UK food industry.

Purpose

To audit and improve Quality Management systems and procedures and provide technical support to the operational teams whilst maintaining Quality standards against business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • To carry out the intake sampling checks on raw materials and finished products every shift, including hygiene swabbing of staff and the environment once a week
  • To run the taste panel and sensory assessment daily.
  • To carry out finished goods checks against the quality attribute sheet
  • To place non-conforming product on hold and to ensure any necessary corrective action is carried out.
  • To monitor the temperature of the environment and of product on a regular basis as specified by the Technical Manager.
  • To check the weight of the finished packs to ensure compliance with average weight or fixed weight legislation
  • To calibrate thermometers on a daily basis.
  • To carry out scale calibration checks each day.    
  • To carry out every shift checks on the operation of checkweighers and metal detectors in compliance with the documented procedures and to check all related process records are documented correctly.
  • Stock control cleaning and chemical materials for the factory.
  • To ensure that all operatives and staff within the factory comply with GMP and hygiene procedures and to advise and give training when this is not the case.
  • To work effectively within the departmental rota, ensuring all aspects of the function are adequately covered during holidays and absence.
  • To monitoring and report internal and external non-conformances to the Quality Assurance Manager, update monthly KPI’s.
  • To monitoring and report costumer’s complaints to the Quality Assurance Manager, update monthly KPI’s.
  • To monitoring and report weekly and monthly Microbiology to the Quality Assurance Manager, update weekly and monthly KPI’s.
  • To carry out process control audits of the production operation to ensure compliance with customer codes of practice and company procedures and policies.
  • To monitoring, verify and report any issues daily on Day & Night Shifts check list Compliance Audit.
  • To carry out Internal GMP/Glass and Hard Plastic Audit within the factory.
  • Weekly monitoring of all PPE request orders. 
  • To ensure that all operatives and staff within the factory comply with GMP and hygiene procedures and to advise when this is not the case.
  • To actively partake in the resolution of quality related issues.
  • To support training all members of staff in food hygiene, health & safety, manual handling, fire safety, chemical safety, and allergen awareness training.
  • To assist in writing site QMS in accordance with BRC policies and procedures.
  • To support the Technical and broader factory team during customer and compliance officer visits.
  • To work as an effective member of the Technical team supporting other team members in their role.
  • To deputise as the Quality Management Representative in the absence if the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • To work effectively within the departmental rota, ensuring all aspects of the function are adequately covered during holidays and absence.
  • Any other reasonable duties requests allocated by managers.

The Person

  • Ideally third level qualification in a food related discipline
  • Two years experience in a similar role
  • Desire to work night shifts 5pm to 3am Wednesday to Saturday
  • Good communication and desire to do well
