Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and results orientated individual, with a passion for people, to lead the manufacturing operation at our Manchester Bakery. You will be responsible for managing the operational manufacturing team, maintaining world class standards of SHE management on site, contributing to the manufacturing strategy and implementing it successfully at site level, whilst driving excellent standards and ensuring continuous improvement.

The site is currently undergoing a large-scale change and investment programme to become a Centre of Excellence for Premix, Pizza and Rolls. It is an exciting time for the site and a great opportunity for the right candidate to move the site further forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively contributing to the development of the site manufacturing strategy, communicating and implementing it effectively across the manufacturing team
  • Leading the team in line with the values promoting a culture of leadership and responsibility, ensuring the team have clear objectives, regular reviews and personal development plans
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with the People, Engineering and Logistics teams to ensure the highest levels of customer service are delivered by the site
  • Creating and establishing ownership for product excellence, ensuring products are regularly monitored for taste, appearance and quality and potential improvements are identified within cost targets
  • Ensuring all products produced and handled meet specification and quality standards at the point of despatch Promoting a positive safety culture ensuring all operating standards are in line with Company policy and effectively supports site Food Safety and SHE strategies
  • Supporting site due diligence and commitment to certification against the BRC Global Standard at a minimum ‘AA’ Grade
  • Establishing and achieving all relevant budgets and KPIs across all key areas
  • Driving the development of Supervisors, Team Leaders and their teams ensuring effective training programmes are implemented and new ways of working are maintained
  • Supporting and participating in effective recruitment, succession planning and performance management activities in line with Company policy
  • Supporting the team in reviewing EOS results and in developing effective action plans
  • Ensuring the site continually strives to maintain Centre of Excellent standards.

Skills

           Key Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 Food Hygiene
  • Level 3 HACCP desirable
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating a team
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proven communication and influencing skills
  • Good numerical skills and at ease with financial reports
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Key Leadership Competencies

  • Minimum of 3 years food manufacturing / production experience
  • Minimum Level 3 Food Hygiene
  • Level 3 HACCP desirable
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating a team
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proven communication and influencing skills
  • Good numerical skills and at ease with financial reports
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
