25 hours per week Monday to Friday Flexible working hours. This role will be pro rata of £28k to £30k


The Role
Due to the nature of the role, an organised and methodical approach is needed, and the Payroll Advisor will play an integral role in supporting the business across both operational payroll activity and broader payroll-related projects. An overview of the main duties is provided below.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and run a monthly payroll for all UK entities, including the processing of appropriate commission payments;
  • Process all statutory payments such as SMP, SPP and SSP;
  • Process leavers and starters, including holiday calculations;
  • Control the reconciliation of payroll, HMRC and pension payments plus other authorised payroll deductions;
  • Manually calculate overseas pay and commission for our UAE, German, Swedish and Dutch employees, produce manual payslips, liaise with external accountants and request payment from Finance;
  • Produce reports on sickness absence, annual leave, monthly EMEA headcount and other ad hoc intercompany reports as and when required;
  • Assist the Finance Team with end of month reporting requirements, ensuring all payroll related reports are available to the Finance team to access (GL summary reports, BACS payments, payroll audit reports);
  • Any other appropriate duties.

Experience and skill set required:

  • Ideally at least 3 years’ experience in a start to finish, small to medium sized payroll function;
  • Knowledgeable in current applicable UK payroll and HR legislation;
  • Excellent numerical skills;
  • Ability to analyse financial numerical data using pivot tables and V lookups;
  • Ability to manually calculate tax and other payroll calculations as and when required;
  • Intermediate to high level of competence in MS applications – especially Excel and Word;
  • Experience of ADP’s Freedom Payroll & HR system, or similar payroll software, is highly advantageous;
  • Experience of report writing; 
  • Experience with pensions and auto enrolement;
