Eden Scott’s client is a highly reputable supplier of products into veterinary clinics across the world. They are looking for a Category Manager to join their central marketing team based in Edinburgh or Dumfries.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, and working within a team of Category Managers, this role will be responsible for the successful launch, marketing and management of key product ranges and services. You will actively manage your portfolio to maximize product penetration, sales and profitability for the business and have end to end responsibility for management of your assigned category.
You will be an experienced and creative marketer and category manager, able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of product management disciplines, working across multiple B2B and B2C sales channels. Proven project management success with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills along with an ability to assimilate technical information to a wide range of stakeholders is essential
Comfortable working within a team, but able to work independently, you should be a confident written and spoken communicator, to maximize business relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customer resulting in proven success.
Confident in the use and assessment of social media to support and enhance marketing activity where applicable.
Monitor the market and report on market size, market share, product (& service) opportunities
Identifying vendor and service partners and establishing relationships with them to optimize benefit to the business
Assess competitor products including pricing strategies and promotions, technical benefits, brand value
Devise and implement product launch strategies including price, promotion, positioning
Generate marketing communications including technical support material, product comparisons and customer collateral
Demonstrate product features and benefits to internal and external stakeholders by attending sales meetings, customer calls and trade shows
Continuous monitoring and reporting on progress of previous product introductions
React to developments within the marketplace promptly, using tactical marketing strategies
Create and respond to business opportunities
Align products and processes with company objectives and initiatives
Key skills required:
Experience within a promotion-led marketing environment or sales-focused business or agency
Category management experience essential
Knowledge of the animal healthcare sector, veterinary or human healthcare/dentistry/eye care, FMCG or similar industry desirable
Salary circa £30,000 - £42,000 dependent on experience plus benefits including a bonus.
