The Opportunity:

New Town Partnership is delighted to be working with the leading retail organisation, Scotmid Co-operative, to recruit a Local Sourcing Manager based in their Central Scotland Head Office.


This is a newly created role which will sit in the retail division and work closely with the category management team. This role is symbolic of Scotmid’s continued desire to provide its customers with the best locally produced products. Reporting directly into the Head of Food this role will offer the right individual a significant career opportunity within a highly-regarded consumer brand.


Role Responsibilities:

As Local Sourcing Manager your principle responsibility will be to manage and develop relationships with existing local Scottish suppliers to maximise the local Scottish product opportunities across the convenience retailing business. Below is a brief description of the key role responsibilities:

  • Be a passionate advocate for Scotmid’s local supplier relationships and champion the difference good local sourcing can bring to customers.

  • Lead the agenda on all matters relating to Scottish sourcing.

  • Cultivate and manage strong relationships with local Scottish suppliers and industry bodies such as Scotland Food & Drink.

  • Understand how category works and the local sourcing element of Scotmid’s grocery category.

  • Work very closely with the category team on stock purchases and correct investment.


The success of this role requires working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including marketing, finance and supply chain. Ability to interact well with individuals at all levels of the business will be essential.


Candidate Requirements:

To be successful in your application you will have to demonstrate prior experience within the FMCG, retail or wholesale sector.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ practical experience working within FMCG/retail or wholesale

  • Evidence of a strong understanding and passion for the Scottish food and drink industry.

  • A good relationship building and account management skill set.

  • Sound understanding of food retail operations.

  • Ideally a track record within UK retail operations and category management.
