KITCHEN MANAGER

£21,414 – £23,334 PER ANNUM

NoWFOOD is a state of the art research and development facility for the food and drink sector located on the main campus of the University of Chester, originally funded from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the University of Chester. The main purpose of the NoWFOOD Centre is to work with SME companies for new product development, market access and innovation, and to play a key part in the growth of the vibrant food and drink community in the North West of England. An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in this facility and we are looking for a Kitchen Manager to work with NoWFOOD Centre customers to ensure safe, professional and high quality operation of the kitchens, equipment and storage areas.

The post-holder will be part of a team of NoWFOOD staff responsible for providing an excellent commercial service to food and drink clients for innovation, new product development or reformulation, nutritional analysis and other analytical services and consumer testing. The job-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the development, production and sensory kitchens to ensure that they are safe, clean and fully operational. The job-holder will also provide appropriate support to train and carry out competency assessments for kitchen users, and assist customers with food development and production. You will be educated to Honours degree level in a relevant discipline, be food safety trained and have experience of working in a commercial kitchen. Experience gained in an ISO9001 or ISO17025 accredited environment is desirable. The successful candidate will have excellent computer literacy, communication and interpersonal skills, and will display strong team working skills and an enthusiastic and proactive approach to work.
