The Company:
A company operating in cooking, freeze drying and packing complete meals for the outdoor, dietetic, specialist markets. A small business that is expanding, they have over 50 years of manufacturing history. They pride themselves on building long term relationships with customers.
The Role:
A hands-on management role within a small business, your role will encompass technical, quality and NPD. You will assist the Technical Manager to ensure the technical performance of the company's manufacturing operations. Additionally, you will work on with sales personnel on new products and opportunities.
Role responsibilities include:
- To assist in achieving the BRC accreditation on the site: audit preparation and improving ISO9001 and FSSC systems
- To create samples and accurate finished product specifications
- To develop new products
- To understand the customer requirements and create finished product specifications
- To support the implementation of a new computerised specification and document control system
- To manage Taste Panels
- To manage micro and chemical analysis and support the Technical Manager in achieving root cause analysis and corrective actions were necessary.
- To assist in maintaining Quality Management System (QMS)
- To be a HACCP Team member ensuring product sign off before launch
The successful candidate:
- Will have experience in a technical or quality role in the food industry
- Will have meticulous attention to detail and maintain awareness of market trends in order to guide the company's NPD
- Will have a track record of technical and quality success and hands-on problem solving in a small business environment.
- Will have good inter-personal and communication skills
- Will demonstrate competence in the production of technical documentation
- Will be able to demonstrate competence in carrying out rigorous internal audits
- Will be able to work independently and deal with multiple tasks simultaneously
- Will have exceptional organisational skills, a natural can-do attitude and great attention to detail
- Will have strong computer skills are essential including, but not restricted to, Excel, PowerPoint and general Microsoft packages.
- Will have a clean driving licence and a valid passport.
- Will have a degree in Food Science or a related discipline (but equivalent experience and work experience will be considered)
