An exciting opportunity exists to work for the Falkland Islands Government, Department of Agriculture as a Meat Hygiene Inspector in the Islands’ EU approved abattoir for the busy summer season (January 2019 – April 2019)
Working hours are generally 06.45 until 16.00 in a small abattoir that slaughters sheep, beef and pigs. The majority of kill will be sheep, up to 1000 a day.
Applicants should hold a Meat Hygiene Inspector qualification from the Royal Society of Health or equivalent and have some years’ experience of working in a European Union approved abattoir as you will be the only MHI on the line. Assistance will be provided by the OV.
In return for this unique opportunity there is a basic salary starting at £30,203 per annum. Starting salary is dependent on previous experience and qualifications and is paid on a monthly pro-rata basis. A flight to and from the Islands on the start and end of the contact is provided by the Falkland Islands Government as well as shared accommodation with the seasonal Official Veterinarian.
