Technical Manager

The Company

Established in 1860, Roach Bros (Curers) Ltd can trace its history back to before the inception of the modern fishing industry. Still family run with the sixth generation Roach in the business, our company specialises in the production of hot smoked mackerel products supplied to retail and foodservice customer from our production facility in Hull. 

We are now looking for an exceptional Technical Manager to join our Senior Management Team. Reporting into the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the site technical function ensuring that the factory is meeting or exceeding standards of product safety and ensuring our products are delivered to the utmost quality.

The Role

As a key member of the senior team, you will play a pivotal role in championing and upholding the company’s high technical standards.  You will be the go-to person for all technical requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the site’s continuous improvement process, challenging where necessary and working proactively with customers to develop strong working relationships.

As the technical lead for the site, you will act as the main interface with major retail customers during site meetings and audits, alongside investigating complaints and enquiries efficiently to ensure their specifications. You will be responsible for managing site systems to meet the requirements of external audit schemes such as BRC and MSC.

The Candidate

This role will suit a proven Quality Manager with a wealth of technical experience gained from a similar role in the chilled sector of the food manufacturing industry. You’ll have worked with the UK major multiples, and will have experience of managing HACCP and BRC standards along with a successful track record of delivering product excellence. You’ll have demonstrated the ability to lead a team, using fantastic communication and interpersonal skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Good organisation and project management skills are a must in order to succeed in this role, and a high level of computer literacy is also essential.
