The key to this position of Engineering Manager is man management and developing an already highly skilled and strong team. The department has long been a proud asset of the organisation and they want someone to build upon the good work that has been done before and take them to the next level. You will be expected to bring your own ideas and introduce new best working practices.
The Engineering Manager will need:
Experience managing large teams will be beneficial but not essential.
Ability to think outside the box and introduce new techniques will be key.
Strong assessment skills to understand the strengths and weaknesses within your team and work towards making the most out of the strengths and reducing the restrictions of the weaknesses.
Excellent people management skills are necessary to bring out the best of your skilled workforce through motivational techniques.
Experience of introducing new capital equipment whilst minimising the pains of the changeover.
Excellent communication skills , and the ability to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and make the right decisions under timed pressure.
Experience within a fast paced high pressured environment would also be beneficial.
