Planning Team Leader (food manufacturing experience)
£36,000 - £43,500
Someone once told me that the Planning department is the brain of every business.
Get your planning team right and everything else gets easier.
Of course, you already know this. You also know that 'planning' and 'easy' don't belong in the same sentence and 'plain sailing' is nothing but a myth.
Thankfully, having been in planning as long as you have, you've built an immunity to the chaos. Instead of panicking, you navigate you and your team through the daily carnage, inaccurate forecasts, materials not turning up on site, production not following the plan, difficult conversations with other departments and anything else that finds its' way to your desk / office, to provide the optimal plan for the site.
This is the part where I'm supposed to tell you that this is the most perfect and best job in the world.
It is a good job though.
You'll have the chance to prove yourself, develop a team and have access to progression within the business. The Head of Operations will give you the support you need when you ask for it and people on site don't hate each other so the culture is pretty good (always a positive).
You'll still have to deal with day to day challenges as any Planning Team Leader / Planning Manager would. You'll also drive home some evenings, thinking about just how good your 'firefighting' skills are and pondering on leaving the world of planning behind to become a real fire fighter.
After all, it's probably more exciting than spreadsheets or MRP systems (that don't work).
Sadly, the local Fire Service aren't currently recruiting so you'll have to speak to me (Charlie) about this role - 01733 391515.
