Position: Day Shift Engineer

Location: Northamptonshire

Salary: £38,000 - £40,000

Permanent, full-time

They export to more than 60 countries across the globe and their growing international business represents a large chunk of their profit. They are looking to bring on board a Multi skilled shift engineer to join their team of driven and passionate employees.



The role

As part of the engineering team, your duties would include:

• Maintaining a plant maintenance system that meets the requirements of the Plant Maintenance Policy and Engineering work procedure
• Ensuring that all delegated electrical/mechanical maintenance is performed with full regard to product safety, quality and employee Health and Safety
• Implementing programs for continual process quality improvement
• Attend to all requirements of the production personnel within the factory
• Liaising with other Engineers and Factory Leadership to schedule work
• Liaising with contractors when necessary
• Purchasing essential spares and equipment at the best possible price
• Maintaining the job card system in conjunction with Engineering Supervisor
• Actively take part in machine trials, continuous improvement and other development work
• Ensure that engineering standards are maintained/improved and that the engineering work areas are maintained to acceptable standards
• Ensuring all equipment is maintained at a safe level of operation according to current regulations

Ideal Candidate



As an ideal candidate you should have recognised engineering accreditation, mechanical and electrical. Ideally you will be electrically bias and have good mechanical skills and experience, with good communication / presentation skills and able to operate on your own initiative, along with the following:-

• Apprenticeship served engineer with a formal electrical qualification. A minimum qualification in Mechanical or electrical engineering is required
• Experience ideally in the food/FMCG industry
• Understanding of the principals and practice of food safety and maintenance within a food-manufacturing environment
• Basic understanding of Food Production Principals and Practices
• Good organisational, time management and communication skills
• Creative problem solving and continuous improvement mind-set along with a strong ability to fault diagnose with clear understanding of Root Cause Analysis
• Self-motivated, methodical and able to work on own initiative
• Must be highly accurate, set and work to a high standard with good attention to detail
• Be flexible in their attendance to meet the company needs
• Be swift and methodical in their faulting skills whilst reacting to production requirements
