Role.
Operations Manager

Location
Based within a one-hour commute to Central London. There will be some overnight stays along with some UK travel.

Reporting to.
Managing Director

Responsible for.
The role will be focused on developing the BGA supply chain of assured game products and ensuring the BGA stamp is trusted by consumers and stockists.

The job will be very diverse, encompassing all aspects of the business not limited to the supply chain. You will be responsible for managing the assurance scheme along with the independent audit body Lloyds Register formally Acoura. The role will be varied from developing the standards, directing which shoots are to be audited, dealing with complaints, working with the competent authorities of DEFRA & FSA, developing 3rd country exports, working closely with the game processing industry and NGO bodies BASC & GWCT. A detailed understanding of assurance schemes and how they operate would be a huge advantage in this role e.g. red tractor assurance. Your technical knowledge will be used to its full extent including but not limited to food safety as it will include a detailed understand of the complete legislative framework.

Duties.

  • Managing the third-party assurance scheme
  • Working with Lloyds Register formally Acoura
  • Creating a workable system for the supply chain
  • Management of all assurance documentation
  • Annual review of the BGA scheme
  • Working with stockists of BGA assured game
  • Working closely with the game processing industry
  • Working up the requirements for game processors
  • Helping processors pass higher levels of Health & Hygiene e.g. SALSA & BRC
  • Supporting and working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams
  • Documenting and analysing new business contracts
  • Engaging and working with third party’s such as the FSA, DEFRA, BASC, GWCT
  • Pitching to stockists with the sales team about the due diligence behind the stamp
  • Working with the BGA Advisory Committee
  • Cost management of assurance scheme
  • Assist in the training of new auditors with Lloyds Register and the Game & Wildlife Conversation Trust

Candidate profile.

  • 5/10 years industry experience in manufacturing would be desirable
  • Proven track record in fresh (ideally protein)
  • Competent in Food Safety Regs
  • Ideally BSC in Food Science or equivalent
  • Self-motivated and Goal driven
  • Good knowledge / skills in fresh food
  • Articulate and excellent presentation skills
  • Experience of working with supply chain partners
  • Excellent IT skills on Microsoft packages
  • Full UK driving license
