Training Manager

Reporting directly to Continuous Improvement and Business Development Manager the individual will be responsible for developing and delivering world class end to end training system across the Littleborough site.


  • Delivering the company induction programme, tailoring standard materials/agenda to the audience, ensuring compliance to Group standards.
  • Designing, planning, organising and delivering training in specific areas of legal compliance and/or audit to the agreed standards.
  • Compiling and maintaining training needs analysis, training records, skills matrices and identifying skills gap. Informing Line Managers about progress against the plan.
  • Cooperating with Managers to create an action plans to ensure successful new recruit’s probationary period completion.
  • Organising, developing and obtaining training manuals, guides and course materials.
  • Performing surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups and consultation with managers to identify training needs. Evaluating training needs against role requirements.
  • Deploying standards, tools and evaluation of training materials and developing alternative training methods if expected results are not seen.
  • Liaising with training providers and instructors, gaining agreement on training outcomes and costs, and facilitating external providers whilst on site.
  • Cooperating with the HR & Learning &Development to ensure maximisation of the site training plan and support with other site training activities as necessary.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.


  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Learning & Development background is highly desirable.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry.
  • People management experience.
  • Proven track record of designing end to end training systems.
  • Safety training management in a similar role/environment would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of liaison with external training providers or similar contact.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening and delivering presentation to an audience of various levels.
