Shift Engineering Technician

 

Reports to Engineering Manager

4 on 4 off shift pattern

2 days (7am – 7pm) and 2 nights (7pm – 7am)

Purpose of the role

  • To maximise production efficiencies by the effective inspection of production equipment and rapid resolution of problems to prevent unplanned production stoppages.
  • To train and coach operators to improve on production efficiencies

Results Areas

  • Proactively support all initiatives to improve safety and quality throughout the company
  • Adherence to company, local  & UK safety regulations
  • Deliver improved factory efficiencies and operations in cooperation with production teams through effective repair, maintenance & improvement of production equipment and facilities
  • Ensure accurate records of machine asset maintenance and improvements by effective communication with Engineering Manager
  • Ensure the company meet all environmental obligations and continuously seek opportunities to reduce the impact on the environment
  • Maintain good housekeeping & hygiene standards in all work areas, to conform to good working practice & the requirements of a food manufacturing environment
  • Train & motivate production teams to improve plant & equipment understanding, carry out machine inspections and basic maintenance
  • To carry out all responsibilities and practices with the aim of producing food safely and to required internal & external specifications within a HACCP framework
  • To support production in any reasonable way as requested

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • HNC/ONC in engineering or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge
  • NVQ3 or recognised engineering apprenticeship in plant maintenance
  • NVQ3 basic food hygiene
  • Good knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
  • 3 years’ experience working within an engineering environment or strong plant operational background
  • Good knowledge of food factory plant and processes
  • Fault finding and diagnostic problem solving
