Quality Assurance Lead

Established in 1895, the family owned firm of Gordon & MacPhail has a number of business interests.  It is a retailer in Elgin, a wholesaler of wines and spirits in the UK, a bottler of Scotch whiskies, an exporter to over 60 international markets and a distiller, owning Benromach Distillery in Forres.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Quality Assurance Lead. This role will manage and coordinate quality compliance in line with Scotch Whisky Industry Guidelines and relevant food legislation, along with providing the conduit between Operations and Marketing/Sales to effectively manage new product introduction.  

The successful candidate will:

• Be educated to Degree level or equivalent in a Food/Beverage Science or safety related subject.
• Possess Food Safety Level 3 or above and HACCP Level 3 is essential.
• Knowledge of TACCP would be beneficial.
• Have demonstrable experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment within a technical/Quality department.  
• Be experienced in Internal Auditing and have a familiarity with quality management systems.
• Knowledge and experience of working in the Scotch Whisky Industry or a spirit production environment would be an advantage.
• Have excellent interpretation and report writing skills.
• Possess strong data analysis skills and attention to detail.  
• Have the ability to work on own initiative and be a strong team player.

Full Time, Permanent position (40 hours per week)
