Job Details

We are currently working with Red Tractor (Assured Food Standards) to help them find their next Communications Manager. Red Tractor are a not for profit organisation who are dedicated to raising the standards in the UK supply chain and currently represent £14 billion pounds worth of food sold in the UK and work with ¾ of British Agriculture (by volume). This puts them (and you) in a great position to affect positive change through the right information and messages. Agriculture is an area that everyone is affected by (whether they realise it or not) but it is also a very emotive subject for many. As such you will need to be comfortable and adept at dealing with adverse occurrences as well as positive news.

The Role:
You will be responsible for driving the organisations credibility as "The Flagship of British Food & Farming", through relevant and impactful communications across the full range of traditional and digital channels. Because they are a close knit team of 19 people, they are looking for someone who is very hands on and not looking to hide behind a host of assistants and helpers. You will be in charge of implementing communication plans to ensure brand awareness and recognition is as high and as positive as possible. This will also involve keeping a constant eye on external media sources relating to the brand and maximising positive PR opportunities.

The Candidate:
A background in agriculture and food is NOT essential. It is important, however, that you have previous experience across as a Communications Manager having worked across broadcast, print and online / digital media formats. Naturally, this experience will come with a network of contacts that you can draw on as part of the role (food industry contacts would be an advantage, but again, not essential). You will be well versed at dealing with positive and negative PR (naturally you want to minimise the latter but we all know this is going to happen). There are potentially a lot of complex points to be getting across and it is really important that you are able to highlight the salient points and make them accessible to all target markets.

Clearly this is just a snapshot of what I believe to be a very rewarding and fulfilling role. If this sounds like an opportunity that you want to find out more about, then please get in touch with Morten Andresen on 01780 480530 for a confidential discussion.

MorePeople have been exclusively commissioned for this role and any direct or third party applications will be forwarded to them to manage.
