A thriving business who are currently going through an exciting period of expansion are seeking a Buyer to join their dedicated team in London.


Job Role

To provide buying expertise across the supply base that delivers the finest products and solutions to achieve the broader business objectives:

  1. Provide the best buying execution
  2. Build expertise and knowledge in Core Product Categories
  3. Improve and manage the supply base
  4. Develop the functional buying capability



The ideal candidate will be need to have experience in the key areas below:

Main Job Function

  • Manage the supply base and collectively work with colleagues to ensure the desired quality, price, and service standards are achieved
  • Follow the company strategy, policies and procedure to carry out all purchasing activities
  • Negotiate all contract terms including pricing, rebates, promotions, exclusivity with the suppliers
  • Provide ongoing recommendations to the business by utilising and managing the live product category
  • Along with Senior Buyer develop the company’s buying process to meet the demands of the customers and business requirements
  • Provide recommendations for income generation and reductions in cost
  • Showcase knowledge of market and become the ‘expert’ in your division

Resource Management

  • Provide accurate and detailed information market and product information for customers and colleagues
  • Communicate with stakeholders to provide detail of the category plans ensuring the information and recommendations are beneficial for the wider business

People Management

  • Help develop and train direct reports daily
  • Assist the Senior Buyers with the development and performance of the whole team


Personal Profile


  • Educated to degree level or above
  • Numerate and literate, with solid Microsoft Office skills
  • Previous Buying experience in a similar role
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic understanding of requirements for Food Safety, Food Quality and Customer Audit Compliance


  • Previous experience in a food-related role with an international supply base
  • Experience of project / category management
  • Supplier contract negotiation
  • Part or fully CIPS qualified
  • Fluency in a second language (Chinese / Italian / French / Spanish) would be advantageous, as would experience in dealing with an international supply chain



£30k - £38k per annum plus 10% Bonus
