Product Development Manager

MacGregor Black is currently assisting a branded and own-label foodservice supplier, on a search for a Product Development Manager.  This is a Full-Time permanent role, based in Nottinghamshire.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Product Development Manager will be responsible for coordinating the development of new products, concepts and continuous improvement in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders, within the assigned product portfolio for private label and brands as well as further developing relevant product knowledge and expertise within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the briefing of new projects
  • Present developed product (brand and PL) concepts to customers
  • Manage perception on the dedicated category on a short term and long term plan
  • Assortment management on SKU’s, recipe and packaging
  • Build collaborative supplier relationships to ensure the best innovations are brought to the business and are delivered efficiently through third party manufacturers
  • Monitoring development of margin, turnover and volumes of the category
  • Creating synergy between the different production locations regarding product quality
  • Lead feasibility assessments throughout the product development life cycle, proactively flagging risks which could hinder the delivery of solutions that meet brand, consumer, technical and commercial requirements
  • Understand the products; know the functionality of the ingredients used, ensure recipes are fit for purpose and use food science to solve problems and challenge industry norms

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 4 years’ industry experience
  • An impressive track record delivering successful NPD to market
  • BSc degree in Food Science, Technology or Nutrition
  • Proven project management skills
  • Flair for food and innovation
  • Experience working within brand guidelines
  • Understanding of HACCP and site technical standards
