Our client specialize in the manufacturing of both chilled and frozen food. Their site is a busy just-in-time facility with huge surges in seasonal production.

Successful applicants must have a background in production planning within food manufacturing, ideally within a chilled and/or frozen environment. They’re looking for a lively character with real energy – you must be able to deal effectively with both busy day-to-day production and the rigorous demands of seasonal surges, while supporting the continuous improvement of your department.

Reporting to the Planning and Supply Chain Managers, your duties will include:

  • Producing daily, weekly and 6 weekly production plans, with daily line schedules distributed and changes communicated accordingly.
  • Continuously providing short-term production, dispatch and distribution information to senior departmental staff.
  • Advanced scheduling of capacity for seasonal periods – Christmas peak production is a 24/7 operation.
  • Management of stock, including rotation and systems data maintenance, to ensure the correct and timely supply of materials for production.
  • Deputize for absent planners elsewhere – development of line knowledge across all business food categories will be required.
  • Continuously improve processes to improve efficiencies and avoid unnecessary costs, e.g. product wastage, line capacity, labour efficiency, emergency transport.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across all areas of the business – production, warehousing, supply chain planning, commercial, distribution, purchasing/procurement, customer services, 3PL, and H&S and Quality Assurance.

To be successful, applicant will have experience of:

  • ESSENTIAL: Production planning within the food manufacturing industry.
  • ESSENTIAL: A strong character with real energy, who can cope with a busy manufacturing facility and will demonstrate the drive to understand and develop production processes alongside their daily duties.
  • Working in a chilled and/or frozen product environment.
  • Busy J.I.T and seasonal production – Christmas planning is vital to the company’s continued success.
  • Major supermarket retailer and/or Export product supply.
  • Stock management – data maintenance, stock taking, rotation, QA/QC, material release.
  • Planning software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Cost awareness.

This role will pay in the region of between £24’000 to £28’000 per annum, though stronger applicants will be considered within a reasonable range if they have the right experience.
