Overview

Deputy to the Technical Manager you will be implementing and maintaining all forms of quality and food safety management systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain site food safety systems to ensure customers are protected and that their requirements are met
  • Ensure all new and existing products are tested and analysed according to customer requirements for microbiological, nutritional composition and shelf life
  • Ensure the testing programme for microbiological, nutritional, water activity, chemical and allergens is always maintained up to date, from raw materials to finished products
  • Maintain the Food Safety & Quality Management Systems (FSQMS) ensuring all components are always accurate and up to date
  • Maintain the equipment calibration list, arrange calibration of relevant equipment and ensure all calibrations are always up to date
  • Coordinate the operation and effectiveness of the internal and external audit programmes
  • Always maintain the Company's schedule of internal and external audits up to date
  • Maintain up to date the internal and external audit non-conformance list and corrective / preventative actions
  • Maintain the NCR log accurate and up to date
  • Custodian of the site hold, concession, foreign body & document error logs. This will involve communication with all site teams and the updating, reviewing & reporting on any outstanding issues to the Operations Team
  • Maintain the allergen management processes and procedures
  • Participate and support site customer, local authority and 3rd Party audits including BRC and RSPO
  • Maintain fully up to date documents in the FSQMS including risk assessments, policies, procedures, work instructions and other relevant documents
  • Maintain up to date the document register
  • Maintain all records and information required by RSPO
  • Maintain site TACCP and VACCP plans
  • Interpret all testing results, alert the Technical Manager and relevant colleagues immediately to non-conforming or adverse results and initiate and advise on corrective action plans.
  • Audit components of the FSQMS to ensure that they remain accurate and reflect actual practices
  • Lead the identification of permanent solutions to non-conformances, agree implementation and timing responsibilities, hold relevant staff accountable for completion and report to customers /audit companies on close outs
  • Identify clusters of causes of NCR and report on the trends
  • Provide information as required to customers and internal management
  • Coordinate the investigation and recording of information to enable effective and timely close out of customer complaints
  • Identify any emerging trends in consumer complaints by specific type or customer and alert the Technical Manager
  • Collate and present the trend data and technical performance measures for the Monthly Management Review
  • Advise named colleagues of their responsibilities and deadlines for closing out non-conformances assigned to them
  • Assign responsibility for investigation and satisfactory close out to specific staff
  • Agree dates for completion and check these have been met

  • 2 + Years' QA experience within Food Manufacturing, with both private label and branded product experience
  • Level 3 HACCP
  • Level 3 Food Safety
  • BRC v8 training
  • Hazard analysis in relation to both safety risks and product quality risks
  • Allergen management training
