The Company:

This organisation is one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing fresh produce providers into the UK retail and B2B markets. Based Hertfordshire, this £250m business operates across 2 floors and are considered by their peers as one of the most influential and deeply regarded suppliers into their respective categories.

My client works with a large grower network, hand selecting the best varieties across their chosen categories, ensuring a high-quality product that is offered all year round. This business maintains that development and variety is at the heart of everything they do, and they are committed to delivering a consistent supply of the best fresh produce, all year round.

Role:

As Quality Manager you will be responsible for ensuring 2 of the organisations packhouses comply with all legal requirements, food safety, HACCP procedures and specifications. The role is hands on and will require a driven and motivated individual.

  • Responsible for all quality and compliance activities
  • To take responsibility for food safety, quality management and customer complaints
  • Specification management
  • Internal and external supplier auditing
  • Maintenance of the quality manual and developing appropriate paperwork to enable clear traceability
  • Maintenance of the HACCP System
  • Supporting the supply team on stock and quality control

Requirements:

It is preferable for the successful candidate to be degree qualified in a food related discipline, horticulture or agronomy. It is essential that you have experience working with internal and external auditing processes and have exposure to retailer systems. You must have a good working knowledge of food safety legislation and quality requirements, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to maintain customer specifications and other documentation, making sure all is adhered to. Finally, fresh produce knowledge is also essential.
