Packaging Technologist

Our Client, a leading supplier of chilled prepared foods, is looking for a Packaging Technologist for their site based in Wiltshire. This 12 month FTC, that may become permanent, is a key role within the Product Development Team leading and co-ordinating cross functional teams to deliver challenging packaging projects , focused on sustainability, quality, operational performance, cost and customer value .

Reporting to the Head of NPD, key accountabilities for the role are:

• Leading and supporting packaging innovation and improvement projects
• Delivering Sustainable packaging solutions
• Continuous improvement and optimisation of operational performance
• Driving and supporting product innovation, design & development
• Adopting a value optimisation approach to packaging
• Providing packaging expertise and support for other stakeholders
• Increasing packaging knowledge internally and keeping up-to-date with market and technology trends and developments

Essential skills and experience include:

• Experience within food manufacturing - preferably frozen or chilled
• Expert knowledge of polymer packaging (CPET)
• Experience across a broad range of packaging materials in the food industry, knowledge of aluminium, fibre-based and flexible / laminates would be an advantage
• Up-to-date knowledge of emerging packaging and sustainability trends, challenges and technologies
• A self-motivated individual with excellent project management skills able to deliver complex projects
• Successful track record of optimising packaging performance within a food manufacturing environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills based on an analytical approach
• Good team leadership and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, innovative and commercially astute
