Divisional Supply Chain Director

Are you a Supply Chain Director who has experience of developing and executing a Divisional Supply Chain Strategy? Do you want to work for one of the leading suppliers of cakes in the UK?

Finsbury Food Group (FFG) is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer, with £320m turnover, and 3,200 employees, producing a diverse range of cakes, bread and bakery snack products for the major UK multiple retailers and the foodservice channel.


The group is made up of two divisions, bread and cake; this role is in cake.  It is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of pre-packed cakes to retailers and wholesalers. The business is predominately retailer branded however It also produces under the Thornton’s, Disney, Weight Watchers and Mars brands, as well as its own Memory Lane brand.

Role: Divisional Supply Chain Director
Location: Flexible although regular travel to and presence at all Cake manufacturing sites is  required (Cardiff, Hamilton and East Kilbride)

The Candidate:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent), ideally in Supply Chain Management or a Business-related subject, supported by additional, relevant professional qualifications.
  • Member of the Institute of Supply Chain Management or the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
  • Proven senior supply chain leadership experience gained within the high-volume food/manufacturing sector in a medium/large organisation.
  • Experience of working with the major multiples.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen. In depth understanding of the linkages between Customers, Procurement, Commercial, Development and Operations functions
  • Strong leadership capability - experience of leading teams and cross functional resources towards common goals.
  • Experience of customer management, customer service strategies, inventory profiling, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing

The Role includes:

  • Reporting to the Managing Director for the Cake Division, this role is a key role within the Cake Board Leadership Team.
  • The purpose is to lead the development and execution of the Cake Divisional Supply Chain Strategy to ensure optimum profitability, best practice, operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Being the key customer and supplier contact, building string relationships.
  • Leading the cross-functional S&OP process.
