The job

The role involves lead responsibility for provision of statistical analysis and advice to Scientists and Technologists.

You will be responsible for developing and carrying out research projects to apply modern data analysis methods such as machine learning and multivariate statistics to solve food industry problems for clients, in collaboration with colleagues with expertise in food science and technology.  You will also support analysis of image and spectroscopy data from the section’s instruments which include X-ray micro CT, Hyperspectral NIR and a DigiEye colour imaging system, and you will also be part of the modelling and simulation team providing support to food industry clients through modelling of their processes.

Your experience

To be considered for the Food Data Scientist role, you be qualified or educated to a degree level in a relevant STEM subject and possess a high level of knowledge of statistical methods together with proficiency in data analysis packages (Minitab, R, or The Unscrambler an advantage). You will have postgraduate experience in a laboratory or commercial analytical environment together with food industry knowledge. FEM and CFD modelling and simulation methods is highly desirable.

The Food Data Scientist job is based in the Gloucestershire region and is paying £22,000 - £28,000 according to individual skills and previous experience. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week.
