We have a vacancy at our Oakthorpe Dairy in North London for a Quality, Environment, Health & Safety (QEHS) Manager. Perhaps more commonly known as a Site Technical Manager.

We are looking for a skilled technical professional who will combine their knowledge of technical, EHS and manufacturing principles in conjunction with good knowledge of retailer and BRC standards to support our milk production agenda.

Reporting into the Site Director, with a dotted line to Group Technical at Head Office, you will manage a team including a Technical Team Leader and EHS Co-ordinators as your direct reports. You will lead the department to ensure it is aligned to Arla's vision, strategy and values to ensure compliance with Arla's standards, customer requirements, legislation and certified standards. As a result, you will co-ordinate and carry out internal and external audits while applying management systems,

You will lead and develop the site HACCP team to ensure the system is reviewed, relevant, implemented and complied with. Working cross functionally, you will ensure that products manufactured meet Arla brand and customer specifications/code of practice. You will be the site lead and representative with external bodies such as the Environment Agency and Health & Safety Executive. As part of a company wide drive, you will lead a behavioural safety mindset, with a focus on a reduction on lost time incidents with near misses fully investigated.

Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level in Food Science or equivalent, with a proven track record as a Quality Manager, QEHS Manager or Technical Manager in an FMCG environment (dairy preferred, but not essential). You will have people management experience and the ability to lead, coach and develop your team to meet personal and business objectives. A working knowledge of EHS principles is required but you will be supported by strong EHS Coordinators meaning our focus is on the Quality/Technical side of the job.

Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential, as is resilience and proactivity in a fast moving environment. You will have strong relationship building skills; internally with the teams on site, with the internal Arla Technical community and external bodies and customers.
