Strategic Development Director

Our client is a leader in the UK food market and are continuing to grow in the markets they operate. They have recently acquired a new business where they feel there is an enormous amount of potential as this would really be offering the UK major multiples a new concept which would reduce costs, reduce food miles and provide an industry leading model.

As a result of this acquisition they are looking to appoint a Strategic Development Director to lead the development team in securing new business. The business is profitable and is growing, but the board feel there is plenty of opportunity to develop further and additional investment has been earmarked to fund this future expansion.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a senior commercial/sales director who really understands FMCG/Food and who has strong relationships with the major multiples at a senior level; someone who can open communication channels at a senior level within the UK grocery retailers. This needs to be coupled with an intellect so as to be able to create a compelling financial business case which will be a win-win.

As a result they are being quite specific in whom they are looking for, first class commercial management skills are taken as read, but they want energy, they want enthusiasm and they want someone who can spot these new commercial opportunities and really exploit them with new customers.

It will probably appeal to you if you are currently a Commercial/Sales Director but want to extend your range of skills in to something more general, as there will not only be the normal commercial management duties, but you will be involved in pulling together some complex business models and then delivering them.
