This company a well-recognised company supply an array of consumer products and are looking to do so in the most effective, efficient and safe way possible. They are in need of a Health & Safety Manager to support the operation in the next phase of their safety journey. You have the chance to be instrumental in driving best safety practices by supporting the improvement of their manufacturing processes.

Description

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be working closely with other departments in order to drive improvement in operational safety and you will be liaising with all areas of the business in order to ensure safety adherence. You will be the driving force behind the development of a behavioural safety programme; leading the implementation and the training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the health and safety function at the distribution centre, including supervision of staff to ensure delivery of objectives.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for employees and visitors on site, and ensuring the depot is operating within health and safety legal requirements and in line with the company policies and procedures.
  • Proactively leading, you will ensure collaborative health and safety projects, both at site and supporting group initiatives.
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within designated area of responsibility.
  • Continuously improve by reviewing and auditing arrangements for health & safety management where appropriate.
  • Provide strategies to plan and organise work systems to reduce health & safety risks and recommending suitable adaptations to equipment, practices and processes.
  • Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for Health & Safety statistics, and providing management information and statistics for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive behavioural culture change programme across a large, growing, multi shift operation.
  • Ensure all site risk assessments are refreshed and that all training conducted at site is in line with legislative requirements and company best practice.
  • Ensure the site management team are fully equipped to conduct and investigate all accidents and incidents and make proactive changes to site working practices where agreed.




  • Profile

    A Health & Safety professional with logistics experience (either in a 3PL or in-house distribution operation) & the following:
  • NEBOSH certificate level or equivalent
  • Up to date knowledge of essential UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Excellent team building, leadership and motivational skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to communicate & influence with individuals at all levels within the organisation
  • Results focused with good organisational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrable record of driving significant change through an operation
