I am currently recruiting a QA Manager for my client who is well-established in the Food industry, based in Hertfordshire.

The Role:

  • To ensure the Company complies with all the legal and technical requirements of government legislation and the Company’s customers maintaining the Company’s BRC grade ‘AA+’ accreditation.
  • To be a source of authority in quality and technical matters within the organisation and instill confidence in the Company’s technical abilities in supermarket customers.
  • To lead the on food safety, quality and hygiene, implementing changes where necessary to comply with customers’ and government regulations.
  • Ensure Company meets its legal requirements for environmental health issues including pest control, worker health supervision and other matters.

Main Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Technical Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Maintenance of the BRC Grade AA+ Standard
  • Manage HACCP team and chair meetings
  • Lead and manage the QA team, ensuring the product is checked online on a routine basis, recording customer specific information as required.
  • Respond to customer complaints, liaising with the General and Operations Managers as required
  • Issue and maintain customer’s specifications and other documentation and ensure it is adhered to.  Maintain a photo library of all finished product standards
  • Work closely with new product development and production teams to ensure that methods and working practices for new products and product changes comply with relevant food safety requirements.
  • Ensure packaging, label and product nutrition information is accurate.  Maintain shelf life trials to ensure best before dates are correct.
  • Work with purchasing to ensure all suppliers complete a paper audit before supply.  Inspect ingredient suppliers as required
  • Ensure Company meets its legal requirements for environmental health issues including pest control, worker health supervision and other matters.

The Candidate:

  • Food science graduate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • IT literate
  • Must have experience of and a good technical knowledge of supermarkets’ food safety requirements and a working knowledge of their IT systems
  • Excellent leadership skills with the confidence to use their authority to ensure full compliance by factory personnel of all relevant food safety and technical requirement
  • A hands-on leadership style with excellent attention to detail and ability to lead customer site visits.

What’s on Offer?

  • A salary of up to £37,000
  • Monday- Friday 8:30-17:00 (occasional weekend work)
  • 20 Days Holidays + 8 Bank Holidays
