Hours of Work - 35 hours per week 
Monday to Friday - 09:00-17:30

The Commercial Directorate has a key role to play, working in partnership with suppliers to deliver innovative sourcing, buying, pricing and distinctive ranging of our branded and own-label products.

Job Requirements

This role will review and interpret legislation impacting upon the safety, labelling, advertising and sale of Waitrose products (food and non-food) in order to develop policy, procedures and guidance that enable Waitrose to comply with legislation effectively, supporting the Technical & CSR Department and wider Commercial, Marketing and Retail teams.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

  • Law Degree or equivalent 
  • Experience of interpreting and applying legislation in a food retailing or manufacturing environment including one or more of food labelling, merchandising and marketing
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to operate across all areas and levels of an organisation
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Required desirable experience skills and qualifications
  • Diploma In Consumer and Trading Standards
  • Qualified Trading Standards Practitioner
  • Wide experience in different product categories or food and non-food labelling, merchandising and marketing legislations
  • Experience of enforcement authorities and practices
  • Personnel management experience
