English Provender Company has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Edward Billington & Son Ltd since 1998. The Billington Group is a growing family of trading and manufacturing businesses in Food and Agriculture sectors.

With dedicated production facilities based in Chester and Newbury EPC take the finest raw ingredients and create high quality, authentic mayonnaises, condiments, dressings and much more for many of the UK’s largest food manufacturers and retailers.

The business is on an ambitious growth trajectory on the back of exciting new customer acquisitions and recent capital investment.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented, ambitious and experienced leader to take full operational ownership for EPC’s Chester facility. This autonomous role will drive the manufacturing, warehousing and distribution capability of the site and comes with a huge emphasis on people, processes and pace of execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operational responsibility for a fast paced food manufacturing site, driving efficient delivery whilst ensuring safety and quality on site.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership skills, ensuring that the team have measurable objectives, regular reviews of performance and the opportunities to develop skills and careers leading to a culture of growth, high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Management of capital projects and manufacturing improvement systems to transform labour, waste, yield and OEE performance.
  • Representing the site with key stakeholders, ensuring that key milestones are communicated effectively and understood.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a passionate, pragmatic and engaging manufacturing professional who thrives in a dynamic food manufacturing environment. A highly visible leader with the ability to challenge the norm and exceed day to day operational objectives. You will be able to operate at all levels of the business and keen to integrate to form solid working relationships.

This role would suit an established Head of Operations or General Manager with a proven track record in people development and management of cross functional team in a complex fast moving environment. Also of interested are talented, progressive, SME/blue-chip Operational leaders from within the food industry.
