Fresh Produce Buyer | Exotic / Sea Freight

About the Job:
You will work within the fresh produce team to establish relationships with growers and suppliers in the exotic fruit category. You will utilise your experience in fresh produce and short shelf life products, as well as import and sea freight to ensure the correct volumes are available for customers. You will be able to plan ahead for promotional activity to ensure supply meets demand, whilst minimising any waste products. You will be strong numerically and be comfortable with advanced Excel spreadsheets (pivot tables, v-lookups etc) and ERP systems. You will be able to work to tight deadlines and be able to perform under pressure, as well as being a strong team player with great communication skills.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have ~2-3 years experience in a fresh produce category that involves significant import volumes via sea freight. Ideally this would be within an exotic category but could also potentially be grapes etc. You will be able to show a track record of delivering commercial results, whilst building lasting relationships with suppliers and, ideally growers. You will have a good understanding of the fresh produce market and how the seasonality of produce effects where it comes from and how this can be a challenging environment. You will be driven and will want to progress your career.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate your commercial capability and buying experience. You will need to have experience in fresh produce or a very short shelf life category and have import / sea freight experience. You will also need a great attitude, be willing to work hard and push yourself, be a great communicator and work well within a team.
